FOLLOW THE BOBCATS
The Three Rivers Classic is a two-day tournament held annually at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Quinnipiac will face Boston College on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 4:30 p.m. in the first game of this year's tournament, followed by a match-up between Ferris State and Robert Morris. The losers of those two games will play each other on Friday, Dec. 30 at 4:30 p.m. with the winners playing for the championship at 7:30 p.m.
The inaugural tournament took place on December 28–29, 2012 and featured teams from Miami, Ohio State, Penn State and host Robert Morris. Robert Morris won the 2012 and 2015 tournament, while Boston College (2013) and Colgate (2014) also won the annual tournament.

• Quinnipiac and Boston College have only played each other once, with the Bobcats holding a 1-0-0 advantage in the all-time series.
• The lone match-up between the two teams came at the 2016 Frozen Four with the Bobcats taking a 3-2 decision to advance to the NCAA National Championship Game for the second time in four seasons.
• Kevin McKernan and Andrew Taverner both scored in the first period against BC, while Landon Smith's power play goal early in the second period stood as the game-winner. Travis St. Denis set up Quinnipiac's last two goals.
SCOUTING THE No. 5/5 BOSTON COLLEGE EAGLES
• Boston College heads into the Three Rivers Classic with record of 13-6-1 overall including a 8-1-1 mark in Hockey East play.
• The Eagles ran 10-game unbeaten streak (9-0-1) from Oct. 16 through Nov. 13 but have posted a 3-4-0 record in their last seven games.
• Matthew Gaudrea leads BC in assists (16) and points (22) while Christopher Brown checks-in with six goals and 12 assists for 18 points.
• The Eagles will be without leading goal-scorer Colin White (10) as well as Casey Fitzgerald (5-8-13) and starting goalie Joseph Wool (10-6-1/.916/2.51).

QUINNIPIAC FRESHMAN KARLIS CUKSTE SUITS UP FOR LATVIA AT WJC
Quinnipiac freshman stand-out Karlis Cukste (Riga, Latvia) is representing his home country at the IIHF World Junior Championships as a member of Team Latvia. Cukste is currently the only collegiate player on Latvia's roster and wore the "A" against Team USA on Monday, Dec. 26.
Also competing at the WJC are Boston College's Casey Fitzgerald, Colin White and Joseph Woll for Team USA as well as brothers Jesper and Julius Mattila for Team Finland.

• The Bobcats were ranked No. 14 in the latest USCHO.com Division I Poll and No. 13 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll.
• 2016-17 marks the 10th season that the Bobcats will play at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center.
HEAD COACH RAND PECKNOLD
• Rand Pecknold is currently in his 23rd season as the Bobcats head coach in 2016-17.
• In 2015-16, Pecknold was honored with the Spencer Penrose National Coach of the Year Award, the College Hockey News National Coach of the Year as well as the ECAC Hockey Tim Taylor Coach of the Year Award.
• To date, Pecknold features a career record of 456-271-85 and currently ranks sixth among all active NCAA Division I coaches in career victories.
BOBCAT BITES
• Since Quinnipiac qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2012-13 through last weekend Quinnipiac has the second-most wins (109) among all NCAA Division I programs in the country.
• This past season marked the Bobcats fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, as well as their second appearance in the NCAA Frozen Four and National Championship Game in the last four seasons.
• In addition, the Bobcats captured their second-consecutive Cleary Clup, for the ECAC Hockey Regular-Season Championship, which was also their third in four seasons.
• Quinnipiac also won its first-ever Whitelaw Cup after winning the league's tournament championship.
• The Bobcats were also the first team since Michigan in 1997 to finish the year with just four losses for the season as Quinnipiac posted a 32-4-7 overall record as well as a 16-1-5 record in ECAC Hockey action.

• Tim Clifton's 19 career power play goals rank second among all active NCAA Division I men's ice hockey student-athletes behind Omaha's Austin Ortega (21).
• Clifton also ranks tied for 26th with 85 career points on 41 goals and 44 assists in 131 career games. His 41 career goals are tied for 17th among active players.
• Clifton is also one of 14 active players with 40 goals and 40 assists for his career.
• Clifton's 11 game-winning goals are tied for third among active players.
• Clifton is one of 33 players with three or more shorthanded goals for his career.
• Landon Smith is one of four non-seniors ranked among the top 29 active career scorers. Smith's 83 points have come on the strength of 32 goals and 52 assists.

The Three Rivers Classic is a two-day tournament held annually at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Quinnipiac will face Boston College on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 4:30 p.m. in the first game of this year's tournament, followed by a match-up between Ferris State and Robert Morris. The losers of those two games will play each other on Friday, Dec. 30 at 4:30 p.m. with the winners playing for the championship at 7:30 p.m.
The inaugural tournament took place on December 28–29, 2012 and featured teams from Miami, Ohio State, Penn State and host Robert Morris. Robert Morris won the 2012 and 2015 tournament, while Boston College (2013) and Colgate (2014) also won the annual tournament.

QUINNIPIAC FRESHMAN KARLIS CUKSTE SUITS UP FOR LATVIA AT WJC
Quinnipiac freshman stand-out Karlis Cukste (Riga, Latvia) is representing his home country at the IIHF World Junior Championships as a member of Team Latvia. Cukste is currently the only collegiate player on Latvia's roster and wore the "A" against Team USA on Monday, Dec. 26.
Also competing at the WJC are Boston College's Casey Fitzgerald, Colin White and Joseph Woll for Team USA as well as brothers Jesper and Julius Mattila for Team Finland.

HEAD COACH RAND PECKNOLD
• Rand Pecknold is currently in his 23rd season as the Bobcats head coach in 2016-17.
• In 2015-16, Pecknold was honored with the Spencer Penrose National Coach of the Year Award, the College Hockey News National Coach of the Year as well as the ECAC Hockey Tim Taylor Coach of the Year Award.
• To date, Pecknold features a career record of 456-271-85 and currently ranks sixth among all active NCAA Division I coaches in career victories.
BOBCAT BITES
• Since Quinnipiac qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2012-13 through last weekend Quinnipiac has the second-most wins (109) among all NCAA Division I programs in the country.
• This past season marked the Bobcats fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, as well as their second appearance in the NCAA Frozen Four and National Championship Game in the last four seasons.
• In addition, the Bobcats captured their second-consecutive Cleary Clup, for the ECAC Hockey Regular-Season Championship, which was also their third in four seasons.
• Quinnipiac also won its first-ever Whitelaw Cup after winning the league's tournament championship.
