BOBCATS REGULAR SEASON SUCCESS
Quinnipiac is currently 8-1 as it heads into post-season play against the Rams. The Bobcats opened the season with a 32-19 win against Army West Point before rattling off victories against American International (44-0), Norwich (64-3), Notre Dame College (30-5) and Brown (77-7). Last weekend saw a historic 41-22 win over Penn State University for the final matchup of the 2016 regular season. The Bobcats used a 29-0 run to take control of the match after trailing 17-12 in the first half, and now enter next week's NIRA playoffs with an 8-1 overall record (7-1 NIRA). Penn State slipped to 9-3-1 on the year with the loss. The Bobcats have outscored opponents 551-109 in the 2016 season.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
The West Chester University Rams have had a successful 6-3 2016 season. The Rams took victory over Malloy College (92-19) and Sacred Heart University (47-7). West Chester finished their regular season play with a 93-10 victory over Malloy College.
OVERALL AGAINST WEST CHESTER
The 2016 season has not brought the Bobcats into a match with the Rams thus far. However, in 2015 Quinnipiac boasted back-to-back wins (100-10, 84-7) against West Chester for the final game of the season and the first round of the playoffs. The Bobcats have a winning record (5-1) against the Rams overall dating back to 2011 where they met for the first time.
REGULAR SEASON FINALE
Last weekend hosted a victorious feat for the Quinnipiac Bobcats. The Bobcats trumped Penn State 41-22. Penn State struck first and the teams alternated tries through most of the first half, before the Bobcats seized momentum just before the break. Emily Roskopf (Pleasanton, Calif.) earned her second try, with just under 10 minutes left in the half, giving Quinnipiac its first lead at 19-17. Senior flank Tayler Schussler (Westminster, Md.) then closed out the first half with a try just before the break off a pass from junior scrum half Mason Johnson (Olympia, Wash.), making the score 26-17 at the break after senior Madison Gegeckas (Downington, Pa.) had a successful conversion.
The momentum carried over into the second half, as Roskopf converted her third try, all of which were assisted by junior center Ilona Maher (Burlington, Vt.), extending the Bobcat lead to 31-17. Maggie Myles scored her homecoming try when she took an offload pass from Flora Poole just over midfield and scampered in to give the Bobcats a commanding 36-17 lead. Roskopf then found space up the sideline and assisted on a try from sophomore wing Caitria Sands (Essex, Vt.) to extend Quinnipiac's run to 29 straight points, making the score 41-17. Penn State added a harmless try late to make the final score 41-22
