
Eight Players Tally Goals as No. 5/4 QU Women's Ice Hockey beats Brown, 8-0

With the win, the Bobcats improve to 7-2-1 (2-0-0 ECAC) so far in 2016-17, while Brown falls to 2-2-0 (0-2-0 ECAC) with the loss.
Sophomore Kate Mackenzie (Winnipeg, Manitoba) tallied the first three points of her career, all on assists. Kenzie Lancaster (Waxhaw, North Carolina), senior Meghan Turner (Bedford, New Hampshire), T.T. Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) and Melissa Samoskevich (Sandy Hook, Connecticut) each recorded two points on the day, as all four tallied a goal and an assist in the win. Seniors Emma Greco (Burlington, Ontario) and Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) each recorded two points on the day, as well, chipping in with two assists.
Bobcats' goaltenders Sydney Rossman (Excelsior, Minnesota) and Abbie Ives (Bedford Hills, New York) combined to made eight saves in the team shutout. Junior Alicia Barry (Hanson, Massachusetts), Randi Marcon (Winnipeg, Manitoba), Taryn Baumgardt (Innisfail, Alberta) and Kenzie Prater (Hudson, Wisconsin) all tallied goals in the win.
The Bobcats got on the board first, eight minutes into the contest when Mackenzie fired a pass to Turner who put a shot on net. Brown goaltender Julianne Landry was able to deflect it, but Barry slid in and poked it home for a Quinnipiac power-play goal, giving Quinnipiac a 1-0 lead. It was her first goal of the season and second of her career. Turner was awarded her fifth assist of the season, while Mackenzie recorded her first helper.
Quinnipiac tacked on to their lead nearly eight minutes later. Lancaster got the puck in the offensive zone and was able to evade a defender and flip the puck over Landry's left shoulder for the Bobcats second goal of the game. It was Lancaster's second goal of the season and second in two games.
Quinnipiac was able to score once more in the first period as the Bobcats sent a rush on net. Both Raquel Pennoyer (Rehoboth, Massachusetts) and Lancaster fired shots on net, before Marcon was able to poke the rebound home with four seconds left in the period.
The Bobcats took a 4-0 lead nearly two minutes into the second period on a power play. Greco found Mackenzie, who sent the puck to Turner behind the right side of the net. Turner skated in and tucked the puck underneath Landry for her fourth goal of the season and second in two games.
Quinnipiac added to its lead three minutes later on an odd-man rush. Cianfarano found Woods (Burford, Ontario) headed up the ice. Woods sent the puck to Samoskevich, who fired a one-timer from the right face-off circle for her third goal of the season.
The Bobcats took a 6-0 lead 54 seconds later, when Baumgardt skated into the offensive zone and fired a shot from the point past the Brown goaltender for her second goal of the season. The Bobcats added a fourth goal in the period when Prater scored on a rebound for a power play goal, giving Quinnipiac the 7-0 lead.
The Bobcats tacked on one more late in the third period when Woods sent the puck to Samoskevich, who fired on net. Goaltender Calla Isaac deflected it away before Cianfarano wristed it home for her ninth goal of the season and 95th point of her career, giving Quinnipiac the 8-0 win. Samoskevich was credited with an assist, as was Woods for her 91st point of her career, nine points away from 100.
Quinnipiac women's ice hockey will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 4, when it hosts ECAC foe Clarkson at 6 p.m., before hosting St. Lawrence on Saturday at 3 p.m.
