
QU Women's Tennis' Rachel Horton Competes in Second Day of ITA Northeast Regional

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's tennis player Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) lost her second round match at the ITA Northeast Regional hosted by Yale University Saturday morning to end the 2016 fall season for the Bobcats.
Horton took the court against St, John's No. 3 seed Jessica Livianu in the second round of the singles main draw. After dropping the first set, Horton won a game as she attempted a comeback to force a third period but came up short to Livianu, 6-0, 6-1.
Despite the loss, Horton leads the team in most overall wins (23), singles wins (10) and is tied with freshman Layla Rodriguez (Rancho Santa Margarita, California) for second in doubles wins (13) on the team as they head into the spring season, beginning in the final days of January.
The Quinnipiac women's tennis team will have three months off before returning to the courts on Jan. 28 when they will compete in their first dual of the spring season against UMass. It will begin at 12:30 p.m. and will be played at the Bay Road Club in Amherst, Massachusetts.
