Quinnipiac junior Dayna Barlow (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) scored her sixth goal of the season to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead midway through the first half. Felicia Costanzo (Yorktown Heights, New York) picked up her third assist of the season on the play.
Just under 17 minutes into the game, Costanzo started the play when she stick-handled just outside of the circle before dribbling in and firing the ball on net. It was knocked down in the traffic but Barlow was able to get her stick on it and re-direct it past Holy Cross' Marcia LaPlante to give Quinnipiac a 1-0 lead.
With 15 minutes left to play, Holy Cross tied the game Audra Kinney's first goal of the season off a pass from Maureen Connolly. After a turnover in the Crusader's defensive zone, Connolly carried the ball the deep into the Bobcats' circle on the right side before dishing it to her left. The ball found Kinney on the opposite post where she re-directed to the opposite corner to knot the game at 1-1.
Quinnipiac had an opportunity late when they were rewarded with a corner. Angie King (South Windsor, Connecticut) fired a shot on goal that Holy Cross' LaPlante smothered as several Bobcat attackers converged on goal.
Five minutes was all Holy Cross needed as a turnover at midfield gave the Crusaders momentum that resulted in Emily Loprete's sixth goal of the year off a pass from Lauren Ineson for the overtime, game-winner.
Quinnipiac is back in action on Friday, Oct. 21 when it travels to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to take on Temple University in a pivotal BIG EAST Conference match-up with postseason implications as the winner of the contest will clinch the fourth and final spot in the conference postseason tournament.
