BOBCATS VS. BULLDOGS
The Quinnipiac men's soccer team travels to New Haven this weekend in search of their first win of 2015. The Bobcats will visit the rival Yale Bulldogs on Saturday, September 19 at 7 p.m. from Reese Stadium.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Both squads will be focused on this game to really kick of their season looking for that crucial first victory. Yale enters Saturday's matchup at 0-4 overall this year and 0-1 at home in New Haven. Through four games, the Bulldogs have scored two goals, one each in their first two contests. Yale lost their opener to Sacred Heart, 2-1, in double overtime before falling to Fairleigh Dickinson, 3-1. In their most recent games, Yale lost to UC Santa Barbara and Temple both by the score of 2-0.
ALL-TIME AGAINST YALE
The Bulldogs have controlled the all-time series with Quinnipiac, winning nine of the 13 encounters. Quinnipiac worked its way to back-to-back ties in 2009 and 2010, after seven straight defeats. The Bobcats have won the last two matchups against the Bulldogs including a 1-0 victory in overtime last year at the QU Soccer Field. Former Bobcat Raphael Carvalho knotted the game winner with less than two minutes to go in the first overtime. Current Bobcat Tobias Esche was credited with the assist on the score.
LAST TIME OUT
Against Holy Cross, the Bobcats suffered their second home loss of the season, 3-1. Quinnipiac allowed two consecutive goals before cutting the lead to one with their second score of the year. The Crusaders captured an insurance goal with just 35 second remaining.
DIAZ BRINGS MIAMI HEAT
Sophomore John-John Diaz and smashed home his first career goal in the loss to Holy Cross. The Miami native struck a one bounce volley from the right side of the box past the keeper into the opposite side of the net.
DALLY'S TALLY
Freshman forward Rashawn Dally scored his first career goal in a 2-1 loss at Holy Cross on Sept. 12. Dally received the ball in open space and fired a strike through the keeper's legs for the score. The goal also marked the first of the season for Quinnipiac.
CAREER HIGH
Against Brown, Henry registered a career high 12 saves in the loss. The Bobcat goalkeeper stopped five shots in the first half before tallying seven more in the second frame. He now 22 saves on the year to go along with a .880 save percentage.
HENRY DOMINATES HUSKIES
Former UConn Husky, Triston Henry, was dominant against his former team. The junior transfer recorded his first career shutout with a couple huge diving stops in the latter stages of the game. Henry finished with six saves on the day.
SHUTOUTS GALORE
The shutout against Connecticut was the first of the year for the Bobcats through two games. Last season, Quinnipiac tallied nine shutouts in 19 games.
UNBEATEN STREAK SNAPPED
Quinnipiac lost their first game in nearly one year against Boston College. The Bobcats finished the 2014 season with 13 straight games without a loss. QU's last defeat came at the hands of Holy Cross on September 17, 2014.
FRESH FACES
Three Bobcats made their first career starts for Quinnipiac in the season opener. Junior goalkeeper Triston Henry, freshman midfielder Oscar Evans, and freshman forward Rashawn Dally all made their debuts in the starting lineup.

The Bobcats have now lost their season opener for the sixth consecutive year. The last time they did not fall in the first game came on September 5, 2009 in a 1-1 tie against Yale.

The Bobcats were selected second in the MAAC's preseason poll with Monmouth taking the top spot. In 2014, Quinnipiac went undefeated in the MAAC regular season earning the title of MAAC Regular Season Champions for the second year in a row. While Quinnipiac fell short in the MAAC Tournament, the 2015 squad will look to finish the mission this season as the Bobcats return 19 letter winners from last year.

DA COSTA VICTORY IS HIGH FOR BOBCATS
Quinnipiac's Eric Da Costa heads into the 2015 season with back-to-back regular season conference championships under his belt. Da Costa was recognized last season as the 2014 MAAC Coach of the year after leading the Bobcats to a 7-0-3 conference record. Now entering his eleventh season at the helm, Da Costa has helped Quinnipiac rise to the top of the MAAC in just two seasons.
THREE'S COMPANY
The Bobcats return three All-MAAC selections from last season's team, senior Tobias Esche, junior James Doig, and sophomoreShaquille Huggins. Esche returns to anchor the Quinnipiac defense which ranked second in GAA (0.56), and goals allowed (6), while also ranking third in shutouts (5). Doig earned his second All-MAAC honor after making the All-MAAC team as a freshman. As a sophomore Doig led Quinnipiac in assists (6) while adding ten points and two goals. Huggins earned a spot on the All-MAAC Rookie Team after for his strong play and being a key player in the Quinnipiac midfield offensive attack.
PRESEASON ALL-MAAC
Quinnipiac had two student-athletes selected to the with preseason honors. Both Esche and Doig were tabbed to repeat on the All-MAAC Team.
LOOKING AHEAD
After the Yale contest, the Bobcats resume action with their final non-conference game. Quinnipiac will travel to Queens, New York on Tuesday, September 22 for a 7:30 p.m. meeting.
