
Luke Roser and Kyle Alper Lead QU Men's Tennis at First Day of Bowdoin Invitational

Brunswick, Maine – The Quinnipiac men's tennis team kicked off the 2015-16 season with the first day of the Bowdoin Invitational as senior captain Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New Jersey) and Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) picked up a team-leading two victories in their first two matches of the season.
Overall, the Bobcats picked up five individual victories in the first day of competition with the Bowdoin Invitational taking on a round robin format.
Roser and freshman Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) won their first doubles match of the afternoon as they faced off against Max Darrington and Carlos Moreno from MAAC rival Marist, winning 7-6 (5) in a thriller. The victory was the first career victory for Zaretsky in his first match for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats picked up a second victory in doubles play to start off the Bowdoin Invitational as Alper and Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) battled their way to an 8-6 victory over Luke Carstens and Aiden McGrory from the host Bowdoin Polar Bears.
In other doubles action, Jonas Kuwert (Jesteberg, Germany) and Willem van Biezen (Warmond, The Netherlands) fell in their opening match to the Red Foxes' Justin Chanthalangsy and Paulo Siracusa, 6-4, while Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) and Ryoma Haraguchi (New York, New York) teamed up once against but fell to the Polar Bears' Jerry Jiang and Kyle Wolfe, 8-2.
Roser continued on his winning ways in singles action once play resumed after doubles as he cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Marist's Dylan Fletcher for his second win of the day.
Also picking up his second win of the afternoon, Alper faced off with Carstens from the Polar Bears in singles action and won a grueling two-set match, 7-5, 7-5.
Haraguchi earned his first victory of the season in a hard fought, three-set match against Marist's Moreno, winning 6-3, 3-6, 10-8. The match was one of two, three-set matches for the Bobcats on the first day of the invitational.
Zaretsky battled in the other three-set match of the afternoon for the Bobcats as he faced Bowdoin's Luke Tercek early in singles play, falling just short, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8. Ben Teicher (Kendall Park, New Jersey) played in one of the final matches of the day against Marist's Joe Motta, falling after a first set tiebreaker, 7-6 (6), 6-4. In another match with a first set tiebreaker, van Biezen battled hard against the Red Foxes' Timo Tanzer but lost, 7-6 (7), 6-2. After his doubles match, Ezaka turned right around to play in singles against Marist's Rudolf Kurz and fell in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. With the final result of the day, Rozenstein fell to Bowdoin's Jiang, 6-4, 6-1.
