POSTSEASON ACTION
On Saturday, November 14, the Bobcats will welcome the West Chester Golden Rams for a quarterfinal matchup in the first ever National Collegiate Varsity Women's Rugby Association (NCVWRA) Tournament. The bracket is composed of an eight team field, featuring NCAA varsity programs. Quinnipiac will host West Chester at the QU Rugby Field for a 12 p.m. showdown.
ALL-TIME AGAINST WEST CHESTER
The Bobcats come into the matchup 4-1 all-time against West Chester. In 2011, Quinnipiac dropped their first meeting 29-3 in Pennsylvania. The following year, QU took down the Golden Rams in Hamden 32-12 to give the Bobcats their eighth straight win to start the year. In 2013, Quinnipiac capture their first win at West Chester, 29-22 to cap off a 9-2 regular season. Last season the Bobcats hosted the Golden Rams on Senior Day, with former player, Shannon Durkin leading the team to a 36-17 victory with four tries. Most recently, the Bobcats defeated West Chester, 100-10 in Pennsylvania.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN RAMS
West Chester currently occupies a 5-5 overall record and sits at 0-2 in conference action. The Golden Rams' lone NCWVRA contest came in their season opener, a 23-17 loss to Harvard at home. West Chester began the season with four losses in their first five matches, including losses to the College of Notre Dame and Life University. Since the slow start to begin the year, the Golden Rams bounced back to win four straight contests including a 25-12 victory at Pittsburgh. In their most recent game, West Chester fell to the Bobcats, 100-10.
LAST TIME OUT
Against West Chester in the final regular season contest, eight different Bobcats scored tries to give Quinnipiac a 100-10 win.

NATIONAL TOURNAMENT
The Bobcats will host one of the four quarterfinals on Saturday, November 14th as the highest overall seed. In addition to the QU contest against West Chester, the number two seed out of the Ivy League, Brown will host the number three seed from New England, AIC. As the Ivy League top seed, Dartmouth will welcome Norwich, the number seed out of New England. The last quarterfinal game will feature New England's number two seed, Army, against Harvard, the three seed from the Ivy League. The semifinals and championship will take place on November 20th and 22nd at Brown.
RECORD PERFORMANCE
Against West Chester, sophomore Ilona Maher tied a program record with six assists to go along with five tries. Maher's assists tied the Quinnipiac school mark held by former Bobcat, Elena Orlando, who set the record against Boston University at the 2013 national tournament. The sophomore's five scores ties a career high set earlier this season against AIC.
MAGIC EIGHT
In the regular season finale, eight different Bobcats combined to score against West Chester. Along with Maher, Autumn Martin, Maggie Myles, Flora Poole, Emily Roskopf, Rebecca Haight, Caitria Sands and Hailey Wyatt each found the scoring zone.
HARD WORK REWARDED
Heading into the final regular season game, the Quinnipiac finds themselves atop the latest National Collegiate Women's Varsity Rugby Association (NCWVRA) Coaches Poll. The Bobcats sit at 5-1 in the conference and are in line to host a conference championship quarterfinal game as the top seed. Army sits at second place followed by AIC, Norwich, Dartmouth, Brown, Harvard, West Chester and Sacred Heart.
BOBCAT STRONG
Through te games this season, freshman Emily Roskopf and sophomore transfer Ilona Maher have combined for 35 total tries. Maher leads the team with 21 scores while Roskopf follows with 14 tries.
SETTING THE MAHER HIGH
Against AIC, Maher scored a career high five tries while adding an assist in the win. She contributed 25 of the 54 points including back-to-back tries to end the game. The sophomore has now recorded nine scores in the last three games.
SIX TRIES A SCORING
Against Brown, six different Bobcats each scored a try. Tesni Phillips began the scoring followed by Rebecca Haight and Emily Roskopf to close out the half. Raechel Stimsonstarted the huge run in the second half before Ilona Maher secured back-to-back tries.Karee Helgerson, Autumn Martin and another Maher try capped off the scoring for Quinnipiac.
SEASON TURNS TO AUTUMN
Freshman Autumn Martin scored her first career try in the win over Brown. Martin received the ball from Ilona Maher after it was tapped out by Megan Johnson and pushed it in for the score.

MYLES AHEAD OF THE COMPETITION
Against Life, Maggie Myles contributed on all three of Quinnipiac's scores. Myles recorded two tries for ten points while also adding a beautiful assist in the victory. The junior now has five tries on the season.
TRANSFERING A WIN
Former Cadet Ilona Maher came up huge in the Bobcats win against Norwich. Maher scored two tries and added four runs over twenty. The sophomore tallied back-to-back scores on multiple 40 yard runs in the second half to help the team pull away. In addition, she registered a team high five tackles in the win.
TACKLING THE CADETS
Against Norwich, the Bobcats had five players who recorded at least four tackles in the game. Freshman Emily Roskopf and sophomores Jessica Maricich and Flora Poole each tallied four tackles while Maher and Myles recorded five apiece.
THREE WISE ASSISTS
In the win over Norwich, junior full back Lindey Wise tallied three assists. The junior transitioned from her normal position to a fly half for the game and provided helpers on three of the Bobcats' eight tries. Wise also added one tackle and a run over twenty.
FIRST TRY
Sophomores Karee Helgerson and Flora Poole each recorded their first career try against Dartmouth. Helgerson gave the Bobcats a 36-5 score by punching through the Big Green defense in the second half. Poole tallied her first career try with a 30 yard run for the final QU score of the day.
WISE WORDS
Myles and Roskopf weren't the only ones scoring for the Bobcats against the Black Knights as Lindey Wise (Franklin, Wisconsin) scored her first try of the season and third of her career. Wise had scored two trys as a sophomore last season before tallying her first as a junior.
FIRST TIME AGAINST ARMY
Ilona Maher (Burlington, Vermont) and Karee Helgerson (Portland, Oregon) were dominant on the defensive side of the ball at Army West Point on Saturday, Sept. 12 as each player recorded nine solo tackles in the victory. In addition to Maher's defensive efforts, she recorded her fourth assist of the season with one against the Black Knights.
NEW FOUNDATIONS
This season marks a new conference for the Quinnipiac women's rugby team as they are one of eight programs to be founding members of the National Collegiate Varsity Women's Rugby Association (NCVWRA). Quinnipiac joins Army West Point, Brown, AIC, Dartmouth, Harvard, Norwich and West Chester as founding members. The conference is focused on growing the sport of women's rugby and is open to all NCAA schools at any level that sponsor women's rugby at the varsity level.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Bobcats need a win on Saturday to advance to the NCVWRA Semifinal on Friday, November 20 at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. The Semifinal will feature the winner of Quinnipiac's game against the winner of Brown vs. AIC.
