
Rachel Horton Wins Two Matches, Advances to Second Round of ITA Northeast Regional

HANOVER, New Hampshire – Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) had a solid first day at the ITA Northeast Regional hosted by Dartmouth College at the Boss Tennis Center on Friday afternoon as she picked up two individual victories.
Horton and Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California) teamed up to win their 14th doubles match this season while Horton's victory in singles pulled her into a tie with Lohaphaisan for the most wins on the team with 21 wins, including their 14 in doubles plus Horton's seven in singles, also tied with Lohaphaisan for the most on the team.
The Bobcats' duo teamed up against St. Francis University's Raksha Bode and Brittany Plaszewski and cruised to the 8-3 win in pro-set play. Horton and Lohaphaisan followed up their win with a match against the No. 2 seed Boston College Eagles duo of Lexi Borr and Jackie Urbinati where the Eagles' doubles team picked up the win, 8-2.
After a long layoff, Horton represented the Bobcats in singles play as she faced Binghamton's Sara Kohtz in the main draw. Horton played well as she cruised into the second round of singles play with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Horton will return to action representing the QU Women's Tennis Team at the ITA Northeast Regional on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 8 A.M. where she will face the No. 17 seed Kana Daniel from Pennsylvania.
