
QU Women's Golf Finishes 4th At Quinnipiac Classic

HAMDEN, Connecticut - The Quinnipiac University women's golf team completed its charge up the leader board at the 5th Annual Quinnipiac Classic, jumping from sixth to fourth from the start on play on Monday to the final card was turned in on Tuesday. The Bobcats shot a 311 on Tuesday, its best combined score of the tournament and second-best combined 18-hole score in program history.
The University of Albany (927, +87) won the Quinnipiac Classic, edging Sacred Heart (931, +91) by four strokes. Central Connecticut State (934, +94) was three strokes behind SHU while the Bobcats "Gold" team (943, +103) slid into fourth place. Monmouth (944, +104), Hartford (955, +115), Hofstra (962, +122), Fairfield (998, +158), Delaware State (1,000, +160), Quinnipiac "Blue" (1,012, +172) and St. Francis Brooklyn (1,082, +242) completed the 11-team field.
The Bobcats' 943 for the tournament was also the best 54-hole in score program history, besting Quinnipiac's 958 at the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship. Nicole Scola (Westerly, Rhode Island) was the Bobcats' top-finisher after finishing at 231 (79-75-77, +21). Scola's 231 is her second-best 54-hole score of her career. Freshman Luciana Tobia (La Paz, Bolivia) finished tied for 11th with a 234 (82-77-75, +24).
Julia Kemmling (Berlin, Connecticut) finished in 20th place at 237 (78-81-78, +27). Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) led the Quinnipiac "Blue" team with a 242 (82-80-80, +32). It was Ribbins' best 54-hole score of her career after she shot a 247 at at the 2015 Navy Fall Invitational.
Albany's Annie Lee took home medalist honors after shooting a 226 (76-75-75, +16), edging Sacred Heart's Ellen Nighbor by a stroke.
Quinnipiac returns to action when it travels to the Delaware State Invitational on Oct. 18-19.
