
QU Women's Ice Hockey Climbs to No. 7 in Latest USCHO.com Poll

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team rose back up in the national rankings this week with a No. 7 spot in the latest USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll, as released on Monday, Oct. 12.
The Bobcats received 55 points to climb back into the No. 7 spot with Boston University falling to No. 9 in the weekly poll. The Bobcats swept the Maine Black Bears this weekend with 3-1 and 5-1 victories at Alfond Arena, scoring as many goals on Saturday (5) as they had in the first weekend of the season.
Nicole Kosta (Mississauga, Ontario) recorded her 100th career point on Saturday with a power play goal in the first period to become the third player in program history to record 100 points, joining Kelly Babstock and Shiann Darkangelo. Kosta scored two goals this weekend to give her 31 goals in her career.
Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) had a stellar weekend for the Bobcats as she tied for the team-lead with four points on three goals and one assist. Cianfarano recorded her third career three-point game on Saturday in the 5-1 win against Maine, scoring two goals and one assist. Cianfarano leads the Bobcats with four goals and three assists for seven points.
Not to be outdone, Melissa Samoskevich recorded her first four point weekend of her career, led by a three assist game against Maine on Saturday. Samoskevich now has one goal and five assists through her first four games.
Nicole Connery (Newmarket, Ontario) and Cydney Roesler (Stittsville, Ontario) each recorded three point weekends with one goal and two assists, including each tallying two-point games on Saturday for the Bobcats. Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) scored a goal and recorded an assist as the other multi-point scorer for the Bobcats on their eight goal weekend.
Goaltender Sydney Rossman was solid between the pipes once again, yielding just two goals to the Black Bears in the two games. Rossman tallied 28 saves on 30 shots for a 1.00 GAA and .933 save percentage. Rossman was one of just two goaltenders in ECAC Hockey to post two wins this weekend.
ECAC Hockey remains tied with the WCHA for the most teams represented in the poll with four as Clarkson and Harvard switched spots in the poll to No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. The Bobcats followed those two at No. 7 while Cornell is holding on to the No. 10 spot in the poll.

The Bobcats return to regular season action on Saturday, Oct. 24 when they host a non-conference matchup with the Yale Bulldogs at 4 P.M. at High Point Solutions Arena.
