QU Women's Golf Completes 36-Hole First Day At Chesapeake Bay Invitational In 13th Place

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland. – The Quinnipiac University women's golf team completed the first day of the Chesapeake Bay Invitational at the Naval Academy Golf Course. The Bobcats plugged through the first 36 holes of the 54-hole, two-day tournament to finish 13th out of 15 teams.
"Not a very succesful day, although Emily Ribbins played well, as well as Nicole Scola," head coach John O'Connor said. "Alexa Gentile started off strong but did not match that in the second round. We played 36 holes today, which is extremely tiring, but we're looking forward to another round tomorrow."

Sophomore Nicole Scola (Westerly, Rhode Island) led the Bobcats with at +15 (80-79-159). Scola was one of 15 players in the field to par 20 or more out of the 36 holes played on Saturday. She also tied Alexa Gentile (Avon, Connecticut) for the team lead with two birdies, each, for the day.
Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) landing four strokes behind Scola. Ribbins shot an 82 on the first 18 holes before closing with an 81 for +19 (163) for a tie of 63rd place. Gentile shot the second-best 18-hole round of her career with an 83 for the first round before carding a 89 on the second round for a 172 for her second-best 36-hole total of her career.
Towson led the field after the tournament's first two rounds, followed by Penn, Dartmouth, Lehigh and Sacred Heart and Richmond to round-out the top five. Navy, Saint Francis, Delaware State and Hofstra gave the field a top 10, while the bottom third was populated by Monmouth and Wagner ahead of Quinnipiac, followed by Randolph-Macon and St. Francis-Brooklyn.
