
Baseball's Brian Monack To Appear on ESPN First Take On Wednesday, April 30 at 10 A.M.

Brian Monack, of Branford, Conn., will be featured on ESPN
First Take on Wednesday, April 30 at 10 a.m. The Bobcat
centerfielder's homerun-robbing catch of a sure homerun in a 5-4
win over Long Island University on Friday, April 25 was featured on
ESPN's SportsCenter on Monday and Tuesday as the nation's
top play. The footage was captured by Quinnipiac student media
members Justin Cohen and Sam Friedman of Q30.
ESPN First Take, formerly Cold Pizza, is hosted
by Jay Crawford and Dana Jacobson. The show also features Skip
Bayless in addition to various guests and regular contributors from
the sports world. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon ET on
Mondays through Friday. Monack is scheduled to take the air at
11:40 a.m.
Monack has started in 31 games in centerfield for the Bobcats this season, posting a .268 (26-97) batting average with a homerun, eight RBI and 22 runs scored. Monack connected for his first career homerun on April 16 against Vermont in which he was 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. In addition to his 5th inning catch to end a Long Island scoring threat, Monack also scored the game-tying run against Long Island in the 9th inning.
A former two-sport standout in baseball and basketball at Branford (CT) High School, Monack was named to the All-Oronoque Conference Team in 2005 and 2006. In addition to his all-conference selection as a senior, Monack was a New Haven Register All-Area and All-State pick, as well as a Hartford Courant All-State selection after leading Branford to the CIAC Class L State Championship. He also led Branford's American Legion team to the State and Regional Championships as they also ranked 3rd nationally.
