
Men?s Track & Field Finishes Fifth At Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. Jake Gurzler (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) finished first in the 1500 meter race at a meet at the College of the Holy Cross Tuesday afternoon, highlighting the meet for the Bobcats. His time of 4:04.56 was good enough for a first-place finish, while Jack McDonald (Cheshire, Conn.) finished two sports back in third with a time of 4:08.91 in the same event.
Tyler Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) placed third in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.08. In the 400 meter hurdles, Andrew Neumeister's (Cicero, N.Y.) time of :57.86 second was good enough for a fourth-place finish. The time was also a personal best in the event for Neumeister by a full second over his previous best time.
Personal bests marked the 5K run for two Bobcats. Taylor Roberts (Newburyport, Mass.) and John Greenlaw (Hampstead, N.H.) finished fifth and sixth in the event, while both set personal best times. Roberts' time of 15:48.07 was his best time in the event and Greenlaw's time of 15:58.02 set a new outdoor personal record in the 5K race.
The Bobcats finished fourth in the 4x4 relays with a 3:36.64 overall time. Neumeister, Gurzler, Dinnan and Brendan Amoruso (Northport, N.Y.) each ran a leg to help guide Quinnipiac to a fourth-place finish in the event.
Quinnipiac finished the meet with 34 points. The University of Rhode Island won the meet with 226 total points, including field events that the Bobcats do not participate in.
The men's track & field team will next run on Sunday morning at the Yale Invitational in New Haven. The women's team will compete Thursday afternoon in Philadelphia, Pa. as they run in the Penn Relays.
