HAMDEN, Conn. The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team was featured in Tuesday's New Haven Register. The article, written by Bill Cloutier, focuses success of this year's team and the goals set in the beginning of the season starting to come to fruition as of late.
Despite the high-scoring nature of lacrosse, the article looks at the Bobcats' defensive play; the best in the Northeast Conference this season. Putting the spotlight on Hannah Nelson's (Glastonbury, Conn.) play on the defensive side of the ball and Kelly Bruneau's (Cheshire, Conn.) unselfish play on the offensive end, the article discusses the Bobcats' team chemistry and chances in the postseason.
Head Coach Danie Caro said of her team, "I'm not saying that I wouldn't want to have someone with 60 points or so, but the way our team is, we thought offense would be our biggest problem this year. But it hasn't turned out to be that way. The way we spread it around, if one girl is getting marked strongly, we have others who have stepped up."
The Bobcats return to action on Sunday as they host Colgate on Senior Day. It is the last regular season game this year, with Quinnipiac having wrapped up their NEC schedule with a 7-1 mark, good for at least a share of the regular season crown. The game against the Red Raiders is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
