TOUGH TEST EARLY
The Quinnipiac Bobcats face a tough nemesis when they visit the Lehigh Mountain Hawks. The Hawks, a strong Patriot League team, has pulled out three hard-fought wins over the Bobcats since 2003. The Hawks won 1-0 on a late goal last season and claimed a 3-2 overtime win in 2004 and a 4-3 OT win in 2003.NEC PRESEASON POLL
Quinnipiac was chosen to finish the season 6th in the 2007 Northeast Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. Last season, the Bobcats were 9-7-2 (3-4-2 in the NEC). The Bobcats were 5-4-1 at home and 4-3-1 on the road.STRONG RETURNING CORE
Head coach Dave Clarke's team brings 18 players back to the field from a year ago. Among them are All-NEC selections Susan Donovan and Leisl Lissfelt.NEW FACES
In addition to eight freshmen, newcomers include sophomore Sara Lawlor of Ireland, senior Chloe Beizer (previously played at Yale) and graduate student Jenna Anderson. Additionally, Matt Micros joins the coaching staff as an assistant.
ANNIVERSARY SEASON
This fall marks the 20th season of Quinnipiac women's soccer. The Bobcats will celebrate during Iona's visit Sept. 28.STRONG FIRST HALF TEAM
The Bobcats outscored opponents 13-4 in the first half and were outscored 14-11 in the second half of last year's games.SCORING LEADERS RETURN
Susan Donovan, who led the Bobcats with 8 goals and 19 points is back for her sophomore campaign. Fellow sophomore Amber Sidoti (4 goals, 3 assists for 11 points) and senior Kate Lissfelt (5 goals, 1 assist for 11 points) were among last year's top three point-getters.NEW IN THE NET
Freshman Kendra Marguiles, senior Chloe Beizer and grad student Jenna Anderson - all goaltenders - are all new to the lineup.ON THE SCHEDULE
The Bobcats kick off the season with four road games in their first five on the slate, including three straight away from home to begin the year and consecutive road tilts to end the campaign. The home opener is Sept. 14 vs. Deleware State. The Bobcats will play eight home games and 10 road contests, but they won't have to venture too far for two of those: Back-to-back games at Yale in New Haven on Oct. 3 and Central Connecticut State University in New Britain on Oct. 7.
