Soccer Celebrates 20 Years as a Varsity Sport

Remember our history: On September 24, 1987, the first
Quinnipiac women's soccer game was played against Iona College.
Quinnipiac won 6-1 with Cathy Davidson '91 scoring the first goal
in the program's history. Since that first game women's soccer has
made its impact at the Division II level in the Northeast 10 and at
the Division I level in the Northeast Conference. The 2000 team
became the first QU team to play in an NCAA Division I tournament
and the 1996 team finished the season as one of the Top 25 teams in
the country.
On Friday, September 28, 2007, we will play Iona College at
Quinnipiac at 2 p.m. To celebrate this 20-year milestone, we will
honor all current players and women's soccer alumni prior to the
game. Later in the day we will be hosting a dinner for all current
and former players and their families. Event and RSVP details will
be sent out next month. SAVE THE DATE!
I am working closely with alumnae Kim (Witteman) Doheny '96, Dawn
Landino '91 and Lisa Gramlich-Brown '92 to plan the anniversary
celebration. I hope that we can count on your involvement as we
contact the women who played for Quinnipiac over the past twenty
years.
Please save the date -- Friday, September 28, 2007 -- so you can
join us for the 20th Anniversary Celebration. Let's have as many
players as possible return to campus for the game and the
dinner.
