Alyssa Hyatt was named the associate athletic director for academic support on Dec. 1, 2017. Hyatt is currently in her 12th academic year at Quinnipiac and previously held the position of assistant athletic director for business after serving as the assistant athletic director for men’s basketball academic support services for nine seasons.
In her new role, Hyatt will manage the administration of Quinnipiac’s day-to-day academic support services that is charged with monitoring student-athlete academic performance to ensure progress towards a degree and compliance with University, NCAA and conference regulations. Other services coordinated by the department include counseling of student-athletes in conjunction with the university’s academic advisors, assisting new students with transitional changes, coordinating of study hall, community service and life skills programming. Quinnipiac academic support services department currently features two assistant athletic directors for academic support and a learning skills specialist.
As the athletic department’s business manager for the last two years, Hyatt’s responsibilities included oversight of all business operations for the department of athletics & recreation while also serving as a liaison between the department and the University’s human resources department. Before she held the position of business manager, Hyatt served in an academic support roll with Quinnipiac’s men’s basketball team.
Hyatt came to Quinnipiac from George Washington University where she served as the academic support specialist and tutoring coordinator from 2005 through 2007. Before her stint at George Washington, she was the project coordinator for Ripken Management & Design in Baltimore, Md.
Hyatt graduated from Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in sports marketing in 2001. While at UConn, she served as the men’s basketball team’s head manager and was part of the 1999 NCAA National Championship team. She has also completed a master of business administration in sports management from George Washington University as well as a master of arts in higher education administration.
