The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey program and head coach Cassandra Turner are pleased to welcome and introduce Melissa Samoskevich '19 as the Director of Player Development and Operations ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Samoskevich returns to her alma mater after serving as an assistant coach of the Penn State women's ice hockey program since August of 2022.
During her first season as an assistant coach at Penn State, Samoskevich led the program to a 16-3-2 mark and a College Hockey America Regular Season Championship during the 2020-2021 season. The following season, she helped lead the program to 18 wins. She was involved in all aspects of player mentorship, video analysis, practice planning, drill implementation and game management.
Prior to joining Penn State's staff, Samoskevich served as a volunteer assistant on coach Turner's staff during the 2019-20 campaign. That season, Samoskevich helped lead the team to a 20-win season, while also assisting in mentoring players, scheduling, video breakdown, practices and drill implementation.
Samoskevich was a forward for Quinnipiac women's hockey from 2015-2019 and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in History. She was a member of the historic 2015-16 ECAC Championship Team when the Bobcats finished with a program-best 30-3-5 record. That season she tallied 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points en route to earning ECAC All-Rookie honors.
She played in 141 games for Quinnipiac and finished her career with 54 goals, 55 assists and 109 points, placing her in the top-five in program history in those categories.
The 2019 graduate will oversee all player development and team operations for the women's hockey program as of Aug. 3.
