HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Women's Basketball team received an automatic bid to the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament, WBIT, and will play the George Mason Patriots on Thursday, March 19th, with the time to be determined. The Bobcats were one of thirteen automatic qualifiers in the WBIT as they finished as the regular season champions in the MAAC. Quinnipiac will compete in the WBIT for the second straight season after falling to the Seton Hall Pirates in the first round of last year's tournament.
George Mason finished the regular season with a 23-9 overall record and a 16-2 record in A-10 Conference play, earning a share of the A-10 Regular Season Championship. The Patriots eventually fell in the A-10 Championship game to the Rhode Island Rams, 53-51.
The WBIT committee seeded only the top half of the 32-team field. The remaining 16 teams were placed into the bracket by the WBIT Committee as close to their areas of natural interest as possible.

"The WBIT selection committee is excited to announce this year's tournament following the success of the previous two editions," said Barbara Burke, former deputy director of athletics at the University of Iowa and chair of the WBIT committee. "The committee did an excellent job identifying and selecting an incredibly competitive 32-team field. With 100 NCAA teams experiencing postseason competition through the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship and the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament, it speaks to the growth and excitement surrounding women's basketball. The WBIT selection committee congratulates all 32 teams, and we look forward to a great tournament."
Preliminary-round WBIT games will be televised on ESPN+, while the semifinals will air on ESPNU, and the championship game will be broadcast on ESPN2. Additional WBIT information can be found at ncaa.com/WBIT.
