Bobcats Finish Strong, Earn Road Win at Sacred Heart

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's basketball finished strong on Sunday afternoon, as the Bobcats earned a comeback victory at Sacred Heart by the final score of 70-60.
The Bobcats outscored the Pioneers 18-3 over the final six minutes of action to earn the road win. QU shot 17-of-31 from the floor during the final 20 minutes to improve to 5-1 in MAAC play.
Jaden Zimmerman led the Bobcats with 20 points (7-14 FG) in his return to the floor. He poured in 17 points during the second half.
Asim Jones (15 points & 12 assists) and Amarri Monroe (11 points & 15 rebounds) both registered a double-double in the win. Jones set a new career-high mark with 12 assists.
Amarri Monroe also set a new Quinnipiac Division I program record, recording three more steals to raise his career total to 190. He surpasses Kason Mims ('04), who had 189 career steals at QU.
There were 10 total lead changes, and the game was tied five different times. QU outscored Sacred Heart 30-22 in the paint, and the Bobcats held a 15-8 advantage in fast break points.

GAME REWIND
Sacred Heart built a 32-26 lead through 20 minutes of action. Nyle Ralph-Beyer led the Pioneers with 17 points and six rebounds during the first half to help the home team build its lead. SHU made nine 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes, while QU made just a pair of triples.
QU went 17-31 (54.8%) during an impressive second half, knocking down 5-of-8 attempts from 3-point distance in the comeback victory. The Bobcats outscored Sacred Heart 44-28 over the final stanza. Jaden Zimmerman scored 17 points during his second-half performance. He finished with 20 total off the bench for the Bobcats.
The road squad raced out to a 17-10 run over the first six-plus minutes of the second half.
After back-and-forth action during the middle of the second half, Quinnipiac took the lead for good at the 4:03 mark when Asim Jones made a layup. The Bobcats finished on a 9-1 run from there. Sacred Heart's last made field goal came with 5:20 left in the game.
