HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac field hockey battled No. 6 Liberty on Friday afternoon, with the visiting Flames leaving Hamden with a 2-0 victory in the BIG EAST opener for both teams at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Stadium.

Liberty scored in the first and third, with one coming at the end of the first quarter and an insurance tally at the 36:28 mark of the match. Overall, they totaled 19 shots, including 10 in the third quarter of action.

Cristina Torres made a pair of saves in net for the Bobcats and Francisca Eschoyez totaled four of Quinnipiac's six shots, including its lone effort on target.

STATS AND NOTES

Charlie Caunter saw her most action of the season on Friday, totaling 47 minutes of the available 60.
Zoe Bjelac entered her first collegiate contest, playing 15 minutes.
Ava Bleier registered her first shot as a Bobcat in the defeat.
Eschoyez has totaled four or more shots in every game but one this season.
