Giacomini Records Team-High 17 Kills in Loss to Youngstown State

Charleston, South Carolina – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team fell in five sets to Youngstown State to wrap up play at the College of Charleston Invitational on Sunday afternoon in South Carolina.
Youngstown State got the match started with a 25-20 set one victory over the Bobcats. Elena Giacomini led the team with five kills, and three other Bobcats recorded two kills in the opening set.
Quinnipiac bounced back in the second set, defeating Youngstown 25-21. Quinnipiac scored the final three points of the set and was led by Elena Giacomini (5 kills) and Yagmur Gunes (5 kills).
The Bobcats took the third set, winning 25-20. Leilani-kai Giusta, Yagmur Gunes, and Asia Belli recorded four kills to put the Bobcats one set away from taking the win.
However, the Penguins took the fourth set, 25-17, forcing a fifth set. Youngstown got out to a quick lead in the fifth set and never looked back as they took the set, 15-12, to secure the match.

- Yagmur Gunes recorded 14 kills and 11 digs for her fourth double-double of the season.
- Damla Gunes led the team with 44 assists, and five other Bobcats recorded at least one assist.
- Sahra Ozbiltekin led the way with 18 digs, her season high.
- The Bobcats registered nine service aces in the match. Yagmur Gunes, Elena Giacomini, Damla Gunes, and Sahra Ozbiltekin recorded two aces each.
- Nine different Bobcats recorded at least one kill in the loss.
- Youngstown State recorded 15.0 total blocks compared to just 6.0 from the Bobcats.
