
No. 10 Bobcats Take Game One of ECAC Quarterfinal Series

POTSDAM, N.Y. — The No. 10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey program skated by No. 9 Clarkson 3-1 at Cheel Arena on Friday afternoon.
Laurence Frenette led the way, scoring one the power play late in the first period after Maddy Samoskevich found her for a tip as she was streaking towards the net.
Frenette added another on the power play just 2:29 later in the second period to push the lead.
Maya Labad blew past the Clarkson defense late in the second and found the back of the net to push the lead to three.
Clarkson would get on the board late in the third but QU would hold on to win game one.

QU will face Clarkson in game two of the series at 2:00 PM tomorrow afternoon at Cheel Arena in Potsdam, N.Y.

- This is QU's first win at Cheel Arena since Feb. 4, 2022.
- It is also the first time QU has won a game one of the ECAC Quarterfinals since that same season, on Feb. 26, 2022, defeating Clarkson at M&T Bank Arena.
- The Bobcats scored two power play goals for the third time this season.
- Laurence Frenette is the second player this season for QU to have two power play goals in a game, Maya Labad had two against Syracuse on Oct. 19.
- This is Frenette's second multi-goal game of the season.
- Maya Labad notched a goal and an assist to push her career point total to 96.
- She now is tied for 11th on the program's point list with Erica Uden Johansson '15.
- Kaley Doyle made 39 saves, her most in a road game this season.
- Her 39 saves are the most in a postseason game since Logan Angers '24 had 39 against Ohio State in the 2023 NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.
