Bobcats Storm Back From Down Double-Digits, Earn Comeback W on ESPNU

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Quinnipiac Men's Basketball erased a double-digit deficit on Friday night at the William H Pitt Center, earning a 99-90 win over Sacred Heart in MAAC play on national television (ESPNU).
Amarri Monroe (24 points, 19 rebounds) and Paul Otieno (20 points, 16 rebounds) both recorded a double-double in the win for the Bobcats, while Jaden Zimmerman (24 points) and Doug Young (18 points) each set a season-high mark in scoring.
The Bobcats trailed by as many as 14 points during the first half, then Quinnipiac outscored SHU 54-39 during the second half of play.
Monroe scored 15 points during the final 20 minutes, Young added 14 points in the second half, and Zimmerman tallied 11 points in the final stanza of action.
Monroe and Otieno combined for 35 rebounds, while Sacred Heart grabbed 29 as a team.
The Bobcats move to 11-3 in MAAC play this season with the win.

PROGRAM HISTORY
- Savion Lewis dished out 12 assists, giving him 543 helpers for his career – a new Quinnipiac Division I program record. Lewis takes over the top spot from Rob Monroe (2001-05), who recorded 541 assists during his time with the Bobcats.
- Preseason MAAC Player of the Year Amarri Monroe set a new Quinnipiac's Division I record for steals in a single season, as well. Monroe recorded 3 steals in the QU win to raise his season total to 65 (Monroe break's his own previous mark of 62 steals in 2023-24).
- First-year guard Jaden Zimmerman set a new career high in points (24) in the win, shooting 8-of-13 off the bench in 35 minutes on the floor. The Bronx, NY-native is up to 11.8 points per game in MAAC play during his first season in Hamden.
- Amarri Monroe registered his 10th double-double of the year, setting a new career-high mark for rebounds with 19. Monroe grabbed 14 defensive boards and recorded five offensive rebounds. He added 24 points, going 11-of-12 from the free throw line.
- Paul Otieno added yet another double-double (leads MAAC with 11 in 2024-25). He had 20 points and 16 rebounds on 9-of-15 shooting in 35 minutes on the floor. He also added a game-high four blocks.
- Doug Young's 18 points are a season-high mark (his career high is 24 points vs. Iona on 1/21/24). Young went 6-of-9 off the bench, knocked down a pair of triples, and added three assists. He finished with a team-best +16 plus/minus rating.
- Savion Lewis broke QU's Division I career record for total assists. Lewis is up to 543 assists during his time at QU, and has 116 in 19 games this season alone. The veteran point guard dished out six helpers in each half of the comeback victory.
- The Bobcats dominated the glass, winning the rebound battle 52-29. 52 rebounds is a new season-best mark for Quinnipiac (previous high was 51 vs. Hofstra on 12/29/25).
- QU has now taken both meetings vs. Sacred Heart this year during the Pioneers' first season in the MAAC.
- The Bobcats hit the floor again on Sunday, Feb. 16, playing host to Iona to continue the league slate.
