Zimmerman Leads Scoring Charge w/ 19 Points
NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Quinnipiac men's basketball began MAAC play with a statement victory on Friday night, as the Bobcats battled to a 89-68 win over Iona at Hynes Athletics Center.
Quinnipiac outscored Iona 53-34 during the second half of action.
Jaden Zimmerman led the Bobcats with 19 points. The sophomore guard also grabbed six rebounds in the win.
Grant Randall registered his first double-double of the year in the victory, posting 13 points to go along with 10 rebounds.
Six different Bobcats registered double-digit point totals: Jaden Zimmerman (19), Grant Randall (13), Asim Jones (13), Amarri Monroe (11), Nate Guerengomba (11) and Keith McKnight (10).

The Bobcats and Gaels battled through the first 20 minutes of the contest. Quinnipiac took a 36-34 lead into the locker room after knocking down six first-half 3-pointers. QU's largest lead of the first half was nine points, and the Bobcats went on a 10-0 scoring run from 4:33 – 3:13 in the opening half.
Quinnipiac then went on a 16-6 run over the first four minutes of the second half to distance itself (2-point lead to 12-point lead). The Bobcats went 22-of-37 from the floor in the final 20 minutes of action, and Quinnipiac's defense held the Gaels to just 13-of-31 shooting during that same span. QU outscored Iona in the paint 32-14 in the second half alone.
