Strong Second Half Leads QU to 5th Straight MAAC Win

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac Men's Basketball earned its fifth consecutive MAAC win on Saturday afternoon at M&T Bank Arena, as the Bobcats used a strong second half to defeat Rider by the final score of 75-64.
QU trailed by three points at the break, then the Bobcats outscored Rider 36-22 over the final 20 minutes of action. Quinnipiac's defense held Rider to just 5-28 shooting in the second half of play.
Amarri Monroe registered another double-double, posting 19 points and 12 rebounds in the victory. Ryan Mabrey added 12 points (4 made 3-pointers), and Khaden Bennett added a double-double of his own (11 points & 10 rebounds).
QU moves to 8-1 in MAAC play and 12-8 overall.

- The Bobcats used a 22-7 run during the second half of play to help separate in Hamden. The run began on a Khaden Bennett layup (11:55 left in the second half), and ended with a Bennett free throw (4:21 left in the second half). QU led 69-56 following the jolt.
- Amarri Monroe has six double-doubles this year, and 3 in the last 5 games during MAAC play. He shot 6-of-11 over 35 minutes of play. The Preseason Player of the Year candidate is averaging 17.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, & 2.8 steals per game in league play so far.
- Khaden Bennett registered his first double-double this season, grabbing a career-high 10 rebounds in the win. Bennett went 3-of-6 from the floor en route to 11 points, and also recorded four assists. He finished +17 (best on team) over 33 minutes on the floor.
- Ryan Mabrey's 12-point performance ties his second-highest scoring total this season for the Bobcats. It marks the second time this year that Mabrey converted on 4+ 3-point attempts (5 made 3FG at St. John's in November).
- Paul Otieno chipped in with eight points and six rebounds, while Jaden Zimmerman also added eight points.
- Savion Lewis recorded six points and six assists off the bench in his return to the floor.
- Alexis Reyes chipped in with six points of his own.
- 9 players scored in total for QU.
- 19 total assists marks the second-highest total of the season for Quinnipiac (24 assists vs. Sacred Heart on Dec. 8, 2024).
- There were nine lead changes, and the game was tied nine different times.
- The Bobcats are 23-6 in regular season MAAC games over the last two seasons under Head Coach Tom Pecora.
- Quinnipiac is 20-4 in home games over the last two seasons, as well.
