Bobcats Fall To North Florida To Close Out Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team wrapped up play at the North Florida Invitational on Saturday morning with a three-set loss to the hosts, University of North Florida.
Ginevra Giovagnoni recorded her second double-double of the season as she recorded 11 digs and 10 kills.

SET ONE (25-13, North Florida)
The hosts got out to a quick 6-0 lead as Kyle Robinson called a timeout for the Bobcats. North Florida used a 10-5 run to push their lead to 16-5 to force QU to use their second timeout of the set.
Out of the break, the Ospreys went on another run to put them at set point before the Bobcats scored four straight points to make it 24-13. However, the Ospreys halted the comeback as they took the first set 25-13.
SET TWO (25-22)
The Bobcats and Ospreys traded points early in the second set, but it was the Ospreys who held a 11-9 advantage as the Bobcats called a timeout.
Out of the break, the Bobcats went on a 9-4 run to take the lead in the second set, 18-15. A service ace from Elena Giacomini forced the Ospreys to use a timeout. North Florida came out of their timeout with an 8-3 run to re-take the lead, 23-21, which caused QU to call their second timeout of the set. The Ospreys came out to seal the set victory, 25-22.
SET THREE (25-18)
North Florida got out to a quick 5-1 lead before the Bobcats fought back to make it 8-7 early in the set. The Ospreys responded with a 6-2 run to cause the Bobcats to use a timeout.
Out of the break, the two teams traded points as the Ospreys held a 20-15 advantage late in the set. The Ospreys halted the Quinnipiac comeback as they scored four straight points to close out the match and win the final set 25-18.
NOTES:
The Bobcats will be back in action as they travel to Brookville, NY to take on the LIU Sharks at 6 PM on Tuesday, September 3rd.

- Elena Giacomini led the Bobcats with 11 kills and two aces.
- Giacomini received All-Tournament honors after recording 43 kills, 24 digs, and 4.0 total blocks in three matches.
- Damla Gunes recorded 21 assists in the effort.
- Fa'avae Kimsel Moe was second on the team with seven digs and three assists.
- The Bobcats had six service aces compared to seven from the Ospreys.
