Bobcats Fall To Niagara In MAAC Quarterfinals

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – The Quinnipiac Women's Basketball program saw its season come to an end as they fell to the Niagara Purple Eagles in the MAAC Quarterfinals, 70-56.
Karson Martin led the Bobcats in scoring with 15 points (4-for-10) and Ella O'Donnell (12 points, 13 rebounds) and Grace LaBarge (11 points, 11 rebounds) both recorded a double double.
It took a little bit for both teams to get going as the Purple Eagles held just a 6-4 lead at the media timeout. Out of the break, Ella O'Donnell scored back-to-back layups to give the Bobcats the lead.
Niagara would take the lead back, going up 12-10 until Ava Sollenne knocked down a three to give Quinnipiac a one-point advantage.
Niagara would take back the lead and end the first quarter with a three-point lead.
It was all Purple Eagles to start the second quarter as they built a seven-point lead to force Quinnipiac to use a timeout. After the timeout, Niagara was able to keep up the pressure and grow their lead to nine before Ella O'Donnell got a basket to fall. The Bobcats entered the locker room at the half seven.
The Bobcats started to comeback as Ava Sollenne knocked down another three at the 6:21 mark of the third quarter to bring Quinnipiac within three.
Niagara was able to extend their lead back to eleven with just over two minutes to play in the third quarter. Quinnipiac was able to pull within six of free throws from Paige Girardi, but the Purple Eagles doubled that lead to end the quarter.
The Purple Eagles never let the Bobcats get closer than twelve in the final quarter as they were able to defeat the Bobcats, 70-56.
