Kat Storey Nominated for MA Sorensen Award

Award Given Annually to Best Women's Collegiate Rugby Player
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's rugby senior Kat Storey has been nominated for the MA Sorensen Award, as announced on March 11, 2024. The award is given annually to the best women's collegiate rugby player in the nation.
The award is named after World Cup-winning Eagle MA Sorensen, a player, coach and doctor who served as a trailblazer for future generations of women's rugby players. Nominees are voted on with the help of the collegiate rugby community to be selected as finalists. The awards panel will vote on the winner, including MA Sorensen herself.
Former Bobcat great Ilona Maher won the award in 2017.
Kat Storey tallied 46 carries for 544 meters during eight games with QU in 2023, helping lead the Bobcats to six wins and an NIRA Semifinal appearance. She registered eight line breaks and 12 defenders beaten. She finished the season reaching the try zone seven separate times.
Storey made 31 total tackles on the defensive side, tallying a 77% tackle completion rate, two tackle assists and seven turnovers won. She was named All-NIRA First Team for her performance during the season.
