No. 9 Bobcats Top Union to Clinch a Home Playoff Game
2/17/2024 6:31:00 PM | Women's Ice Hockey
SCHENECTADY, N.Y — The No. 9 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey rolled to a 6-1 win over Union on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Julia Nearis put the Bobcats up early after cleaning up a rebound from a Jess Schryver shot.
Just over a minute later Nearis hit Maya Labad going through the slot and she roofed it on Union to push the lead on the power play.
Union would get one back cutting the deficit to one in the first period, but that's as close as they would get before Alexa Hoskin received drop pass from Maya Labad and made a move to put the puck past the Union goaltender.
Neither team found the back of the net in the second period, with Logan Angers making 11 saves in the period.
Early in the third period, Veronica Bac scored on a one-timer from a Jess Schryver pass.
Six minutes later, after a scramble in front Nina Steigauf batted in a loose puck.
Alexa Hoskin then potted her second goal of the game after making a move past the goalie and putting it in the far corner.
