QU Advances to Third Straight MAAC Title Game

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats punched their ticket to the 2024 MAAC Volleyball Championship game after they defeated the Rider Broncs, 3-1, in the Semifinals on Saturday evening.
Elena Giacomini led the way for the Bobcats with 28 kills and 18 digs for her eleventh double-double in a row. Yagmur Gunes recorded 21 kills and a team-high 4.0 total blocks to help the Bobcats past the Broncs.
The Bobcats will play in their third straight MAAC title game on Sunday at 1 PM.

SET ONE (25-15, Quinnipiac)
The Bobcats got ahead early as they took a 13-5 advantage in the first media timeout. Out of the break, the Broncs got the first point to make it 13-6.
After that point, the rest of the set was all Bobcats as they finished the set on a 12-9 run to win the opening set 25-15.
SET TWO (28-26)
Quinnipiac and Rider traded points early in the second set, but Rider opened a 13-10 lead to force the Bobcats to call a timeout.
After the break, Quinnipiac went on a 10-7 run to even the set at 20 points each. After a Rider timeout, two straight points from the Bobcats forced Rider to use their final timeout of the set.
After Rider took a 24-23 lead in the second set, Quinnipiac called their final timeout. Out of the Quinnipiac timeout, the Bobcats went on a 5-2 run to win the second set, 28-26.
SET THREE (23-25)
Rider opened the third set on a 12-8 run to force Quinnipiac to call a timeout. Out of the break, the Broncs continued to control the set, taking a 23-20 lead into Quinnipiac's final timeout.
Out of the timeout, the Broncs finished off the set with a 25-23 victory to force a fourth set.
SET FOUR (25-22)
Quinnipiac opened the fourth set on an 11-8 run as Rider called their first timeout of the set. A 4-1 run out of the timeout forced the Broncs to use their final timeout of the set.
Out of the timeout, Quinnipiac held onto their field, making it 21-16 as the Bobcats used a timeout. After the Bobcats' timeout, Quinnipiac would close out the set and match with a 25-22 victory in the fourth set.

- Six different Bobcats recorded kills in the win over Rider.
- Three Bobcats reached double-double digs in the win, Elena Giacomini (18 digs), Yagmur Gunes (13 digs), and Carola Negron Diaz (13 digs).
- Yagmur Gunes led the way with 4.0 total blocks in the win.
- The Bobcats had 62 kills to Rider's 55.
- Each team recorded six total blocks.
- The Bobcats will be in the MAAC Championship game for the 3rd straight season.
