Quinnipiac Falls to Sacred Heart in Saturday Matinee

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team fell to the Sacred Heart Pioneers on Saturday afternoon in Fairfield, 3-1.
Elena Giacomini picked up her fourth straight double double as she recorded 18 kills and 11 digs. Her 18 kills were the most on the team in the loss at Sacred Heart.

SET ONE (25-18, Sacred Heart)
The Pioneers held a five-point advantage at the first media timeout of the match, leading the Bobcats 15-10. After the short break, the Pioneers' lead shrunk to 18-14 as the Bobcats called their first timeout of the set.
Out of the timeout, a 4-3 run from the Pioneers incited the Bobcats to use their final timeout of the opening set. Sacred Heart would score three of the next four points to close out the first set.
SET TWO (21-25)
The second set started similarly to the first, but it was the Bobcats who held a 15-10 lead at the media timeout of the second set. After the break, the Pioneers went on a 6-4 run to make it a 19-16 set, in favor of the Bobcats.
After Quinnipiac called their first timeout of the set, the Bobcats used a 6-5 run to close out the set, 25-21, and even the match at a set apiece.
SET THREE (25-22)
Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart traded points to begin the third set, but it was Sacred Heart who held a one-point lead, 15-14, at the media timeout. A 5-3 run out of the break for the Pioneers extended their lead to 20-17 as the Bobcats called their first timeout of the third set.
Out of the Quinnipiac timeout, two straight points from the Bobcats forced Sacred Heart to call a timeout of their own. After the break, the Pioneers used a 5-3 run to close out the third set, 25-22.
SET FOUR (25-19)
Quinnipiac started the fourth set on a 6-3 run to force the Pioneers to call their first timeout of the set. Out of the break, the Pioneers used a 12-7 run to take a 15-13 lead into the media timeout.
Out of the short break, Sacred Heart finished off the set and match with a 10-6 run to win the final set, 25-19.

- Yagmur Gunes was second on the team as she recorded nine kills.
- Fa'avae Kimsel Moe led the Bobcats with 17 digs in the effort. Kimsel Moe also picked up two assists and one ace.
- Six different Bobcats recorded at one kill in the four-set loss to the Pioneers.
- Damla Gunes recorded 35 assists in the effort.
- The Bobcats combined for 40 kills compared to 39 kills from the Pioneers.
- Sacred Heart dominated the service line with 12 service aces compared to six from the Bobcats.
- Quinnipiac picked up 13.0 total blocks compared to 14.0 from Sacred Heart.
