Volleyball Defeats Manhattan in Straight Sets

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team won their second straight match with a three-set victory over the Manhattan Jaspers on Saturday afternoon.
Elena Giacomini led the offensive charge for the Bobcats with 15 kills. Leilani-kai Giusta recorded 12 kills and five aces.

SET ONE (27-25, Quinnipiac)
The Bobcats and Jaspers traded points for much of the first set, but the Bobcats took a one-point advantage, 22-21, forcing Manhattan to use their first timeout.
The Jaspers evened the set at 25 points apiece before the Bobcats scored the final two points to win the opening set.
SET TWO (25-17)
The Bobcats opened the second set by going up 15-9 before the Jaspers called their first timeout of the set.
Out of the Manhattan timeout, Quinnipiac used a 10-8 run to close out the set. Elena Giacomini led the Bobcats with two kills in that span.
SET THREE (25-14)
After the two sides were tied at five early in the third set, the Bobcats used a 6-0 run to build an 11-5 lead as the Jaspers called a timeout.
Quinnipiac used a 14-9 run out of the timeout to win the third set, 25-14. Elena Giacomini and Leilani-kai Giusta each recorded three kills in that span.

- Giusta recorded double-digit kills for the eighth match in a row as she recorded 12 kills.
- Giusta led the team with five service aces in the win.
- Quinnipiac recorded 5.0 total blocks compared to Manhattan's 7.0 blocks.
- Quinnipiac dominated the service line with ten aces in the victory over the Jaspers.
- Damla Gunes recorded 36 assists in the effort.
