Bobcats Record 13 Personal Bests at Sander Columbia Challenge

NEW YORK — The Quinnipiac University women's indoor track and field team competed amongst the region's and nation's best in the annual Dr. Sander Invite Columbia Challenge, held over the last two days at The Armory in New York City.
The performances included 13 personal records and another three season bests, with all four 3k runners hitting a collegiate-best mark and three runners in the 5k doing the same.
The Bobcats also recorded five, Top 10 finishes, including Rachel St. Germain finishing fifth in the 5k and Corinne Barney finishing one spot behind. Rylie Smith recorded a sixth-place finish in the 400m, while Alessandra Zaffina and Lauren Selkin each placed ninth in their respective distance races.
TOP 10 PERFORMANCES
Quinnipiac heads back to The Armory next weekend to take part in the Rutgers Open on Feb. 2 and 3. It will be their final trip to the facility before the MAAC Championships are held there at the end of the month.

- Rachel St. Germain recorded a personal-best time of 16:37.62 in the 5k, good for third on the program's Top 10 list.
- Corinne Barney finished the 5k in a collegiate-best time of 16:53.27, which is sixth on the all-time charts.
- Lauren Selkin also PR'ed in the 5k, clocking in at 17:11.29. That time is 10th on the program's all-time list.
- Alessandra Zaffina became the second Bobcat ever to crack 9:40 in the 3k, besting her previous time by six seconds en route to a 9:36.37 finish.
