
Seven Quinnipiac Women's Ice Hockey Alums Selected in 2023 Inaugural PWHL Draft

TORONTO, Ont.— Seven Quinnipiac women's ice hockey alums were selected in the inaugural Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) 2023 draft held on Monday, September 18.
Kati Tabin '20, Corinne Schroeder '21, Taylor Girard '21, Zoe Boyd '23, Lexie Adzija '23, Shiann Darkangelo '15 and Emma Woods '17 we chosen in the draft.
Kati Tabin
Tabin, a defender, was drafted 30th overall in the fifth round by Montreal. She was most recently a member of the PHF with the Toronto Six, who won the Isobel Cup last season. She posted 18 points (4G-14A) through 24 games with the Six.
Corinne Schroeder
Schroeder, a goaltender, was drafted 33rd overall in the sixth round of the draft by New York. Schroeder was a member of the Boston Pride (PHF) this past season where she was named the 2022-23 Goaltender of the Year after posting three single season records of 19 wins, seven shutouts and 761 saves.
Taylor Girard
Girard, a forward, was drafted 51st overall in the ninth round of the draft by Boston. Girard played for the Connecticut Whale (PHF) last season where she put up 10 goals, 18 assists and 28 total points through 24 games.
Boyd, a defender, was drafted 53rd overall in the 11th round of the draft by Ottawa. She was a Co-captain last season with the Bobcats where she saw action in 27 games, tallying three goals and 11 assists for 14 points.
Adzija, a forward, was drafted 65th overall in the 11th round of the draft by Ottawa. She was a co-captain alongside Boyd last season with the Bobcats. She played in 26 matchups, notching 11 goals, 5 assists, for 16 points. Adzija lead the team in powers-play goals (6) and face-off victories.
Shiann Darkangelo
Darkangelo, a forward, was drafted 71st overall in the 12th round of the draft by Boston. Darkangelo captained the Toronto Six (PHF) last season where she led the team to victory by capturing the Isobel Cup. She posted a 12G-13A-25P record through 24 games.
Emma Woods
Woods, a forward, was drafted 81st overall in the 14th round of the draft by New York. Woods spent this past season with the Toronto Six where she captured the Isobel Cup alongside Bobcat alums Darkangelo and Tabin. She tallied 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points through 24 games.
