PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Quinnipiac women's soccer team kicked off their 2023 campaign with a 3-0 loss to the Providence Friars on Sunday evening.

SCORING SUMMARY

First Half

(11' - Quinnipiac 0, Providence 1) - Kayla Briggs beat two defenders in the corner before sending the ball across the box where Gillian Kenney was able to send it into the back of the net.
(20' - Quinnipiac 0, Providence 2) - On a corner kick that was sent into the box, the ball found the feet of Briggs, who took a shot and was deflected in by Kenney for her second goal of the game.

Second Half

(73' - Quinnipiac 0, Providence 3) - The Friars were awarded a penalty kick after a foul in the box. Kyla Gallagher stepped up and beat Lospinoso to the bottom right portion of the net.

NOTES

The Bobcats were out-shot 11-10, but tallied more shots on goal than the Friars, 8-6.
Sophia Lospinoso made three saves in the losing effort.
Quinnipiac falls to 3-7 all-time against the Friars and it was its first loss since 2009.
