HAMDEN, Conn. — The countdown to Banner Night is on.
The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey program has released its 2023 non-conference schedule, highlighted by its National Championship celebration on Opening Night, October 7, when they host the Boston College Eagles at M&T Bank Arena.
"We are very excited to begin our national championship defense," head coach Rand Pecknold said. "We have put together a non-conference schedule that is going to challenge us every week and prepare us for another NCAA Tournament run with multiple NCAA Tournament teams from last season. We are again ready to embrace the grind and bring another championship back to Quinnipiac University."
The matchup with the Eagles starts a 12-game non-conference slate that also includes fellow 2022 Frozen Four participant Boston University on Nov. 22 at Agganis Arena.
After its home opener and an exhibition at Northeastern, the Bobcats play American International for a home-and-home on Oct. 13 and 14, with the latter at M&T Bank Arena. The Yellow Jackets have won three of the last four Atlantic Hockey titles.
Following that is a pair of Hockey East foes, with a road weekend at New Hampshire on Oct. 20 and 21 and a home set with Maine on Oct. 27 and 28. Quinnipiac and New Hampshire will be meeting for the first time ever, while the Bobcats have won four of the last six against the Black Bears.
Non-conference play resumes with their battle with Boston University on Nov. 22 and then again on Dec. 9 when the LIU Sharks come to Hamden before the holiday break. The Bobcats will then host Holy Cross on Dec. 30 before heading back to Boston for a Jan. 6 matchup at Northeastern.
Connecticut Ice dates, times and opponents will be officially released at a later date.
