POMONA, N.Y. — Quinnipiac Head Coach John Delaney earned the 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Award, the league office announced on Tuesday, May 22, on the eve of the MAAC Tournament.
In addition, five members of the Bobcats earned All-MAAC honors. Named to the first team were junior catcher Keegan O'Connor, senior outfielder Anthony Donofrio and senior pitcher Kevin Seitter, while graduate student Kyle Maves was named to the second team, and first-year pitcher Matt Alduino garnered All-Rookie honors.
Delaney was named the MAAC Coach of the Year for the second time in his career on Tuesday after helping the Bobcats far exceed their preseason expectations. After being picked seventh out of 11 teams in the preseason poll, Delaney led Quinnipiac to 16 MAAC wins and a fourth-place finish in the regular season, while producing five All-MAAC caliber players, including three on the First Team.
Delaney is in his ninth season as the head coach of the Bobcats and will be bringing the program to the MAAC Tournament for the fourth time in that span, leading Quinnipiac to a championship victory and NCAA Regional appearance in their last showing at the tournament in 2019.
Alduino came onto the scene in 2023, becoming a mainstay out of the bullpen for the Bobcats en route to earning MAAC All-Rookie honors. Alduino went 4-0 on the season, tying for the second-most wins on the team with graduate student Tim Blaisdell and second behind All-MAAC First Team selection Seitter.
Alduino led the team in appearances with 23 showings out of the bullpen, while also ranking third on the team in strikeouts (46), first in opponent batting average (.231), and fifth in innings pitched (34.2).
Maves returned to Quinnipiac as a grad student for his fifth season in Hamden. His last season proved to be his best, as he earned All-MAAC honors for the first time in his career after garnering Second Team honors. Maves led the MAAC with 79 hits and batted .366 on the season while adding four triples, 12 doubles, and 27 RBIs, all career-best marks for the graduate student.
Maves has recorded 73 stolen bases for his career and will graduate as the all-time leader in program history in the category. Of his 73 career steals, 26 have come this season, which is the second most steals in a single season in program history.
O'Connor enjoyed a breakout 2023 campaign. O'Connor earned All-MAAC First Team honors after setting career-best numbers in batting average (.346), hits (74), doubles (15), homers (12), and RBIs (55).
Earning MAAC Player of the Week honors earlier in the season, O'Connor homered in five consecutive games from May 5 - 11. A stalwart behind the plate as well, he threw out 13 attempted base stealers this season.
Donofrio had a spectacular senior season for Quinnipiac, entering the postseason with a .371 average, 16 home runs, 61 RBI, and 29 stolen bases. His 61 RBI and 29 stolen bases both are new Quinnipiac single-season program records.
Donofrio garnered First Team decoration on Tuesday as he ranked within the top five in the conference in nearly every offensive category. Donofrio is batting .371 on the season, ranking fifth in the MAAC, while his 79 hits are tops in the conference. He ranks second in the conference in doubles (17), fifth in triples (4), third in homers (16), second in RBIs (61), second in total bases (152), third in slugging (.714), and first in stolen bases (29).
Seitter is enjoying his best season as a senior as he was named to the All-MAAC First Team on Tuesday. Seitter leads the team in wins (7), complete games (2), ERA (3.78), innings pitched (81.0), and strikeouts (70).
Seitter's numbers placed him among the best in the conference as he ranked second in the MAAC in ERA, third in wins, first in complete games, fifth in innings pitched, and sixth in strikeouts.
In addition to the All-MAAC honors, a total of eight members of the Bobcats were also named to the MAAC All-Academic team:

Kyle Maves - Public Relations
Sebastian Mueller - Economics
