Bobcats Season Comes to an End in MAAC Quarterfinals

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Graduate student Mary Baskerville led the way with 12 points and nine rebouunds, but it wasn't enough as No. 3 Quinnipiac women's basketball came up short against No. 6 Manhattan, 50-43, in the MAAC Quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon inside of Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.
With the loss, the Bobcats' season ends with 21 wins, marking the 12th time that Quinnipiac has reached 20 or more wins in a season with Head Coach Tricia Fabbri leading the way.
The two sides were nearly even in the first quarter, with Manhattan carrying a slim four-point advantage into the second. The Jaspers opened the second quarter with a 7-2 run, pushing their lead to 21-12, forcing a Quinnipiac timeout with 6:48 remaining before the break.
Out of the timeout, the Bobcats immediately with a 6-2 run led by Mary Baskerville.
After cutting the deficit to 23-20, Quinnipiac's run stretched to 14-2 after Rose Caverly scored six straight points to put the Bobcats ahead 26-23 entering the half.
After Quinnipiac extended the lead to 28-23, Manhattan responded with a 13-3 run to take a 36-31 lead with 3:40 remaining in the third. However, the Bobcats closed the frame with a 6-3 run to trim the deficit to two points entering the fourth.
The Jaspers dug in, going on a 6-0 run to open the quarter to extend their lead to 45-37. However, Quinnipiac responded with a 6-0 run of its own to trim the deficit to 45-43 with 1:17 remaining in regulation.
However, the Bobcats could not get over the hump, falling short, 50-43.
