Bobcats Shutout Merrimack in NCAA Regional Semifinals

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Jacob Quillan scored two goals of his own, while Joey Cipollone, Michael Lombardi and Sam Lipkin added a goal apiece to lead the Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team to a 5-0 victory over Merrimack in the NCAA Regional Semifinals on Friday evening inside Total Mortgage Bank Arena.
Cipollone started the scoring 1:56 into the second, as his shot deflected off a skate and into the net to give the Bobcats a lead they would not relinquish.
93 seconds later, Quillan potted one on a 2-on-1 with Sam Lipkin to put his squad in control.
Sophomore goalkeeper Yaniv Perets recorded 15 saves en route to his 10th shutout of the season, tying for the most shutouts in the nation for the 2022-23 campaign.
With the team's 31st win of the year, the Bobcats are a win away from tying the program record for the most wins in a single season.

The Bobcats will face Big Ten foe Ohio State for a spot in the Frozen Four on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. in Bridgeport. The game can be seen live on ESPN2.

- With his 21st career shutout, Perets extends his program and ECAC career record, as well as ties himself for third all-time in NCAA history with Michael Bitzer and Matthew Galajda.
- The Bobcats advanced in their fourth NCAA Tournament in their last five appearances, as they seek their first Frozen Four appearance since the 2015-16 campaign.
- Quillan recorded his fourth, multi-goal game of the season and first since Dec. 30 against Holy Cross.
- After a three-point outing tonight, Lipkin entered double digits for his career with his 10th multi-point outing of the season.
- With an assist tonight, Ethan de Jong extended his point streak to four and has points in six of his last seven contests.
- Collin Graf's point streak sits at five and he has one in 11 of his last 12 appearances, currently standing at 56 for the season.
- Metsa added an assist tonight, extending his point streak to four and has points in seven of his last eight contests.
