Bobcats Earn Heroes' Hat Victory Over Yale
2/17/2023 10:28:00 PM | Men's Ice Hockey
HAMDEN, Conn. — At the halfway point of the game, Yale looked as if it was going to spoil all potential parties at M&T Bank Arena on Friday night.
Sam Lipkin and Yaniv Perets changed that.
The Philadelphia native, Lipkin, potted a pair of goals in 37 seconds and Perets made a pad-stacking, breakway save that ignited the sellout crowd and the No. 1 team in the country was off and running as Quinnipiac knocked off Yale 5-1 to win its 10th consecutive over its Whitney Ave., rivals.
Perets' highlight reel save was one of 15 he made on the night but kept the Bobcats ahead for good in front of a raucous environment.
After Lipkin went back to back, CJ McGee finished off a beautiful passing sequence as he blasted home a cross-crease pass to make it 3-1 Bobcats.
Collin Graf, who assisted on a pair of goals, and Cristophe Tellier added third-period tallies to put the game out of reach as Quinnipiac won the Heroes' Hat.
STATS AND NOTES
The Bobcats round out their 2022-23 home regular seaosn slate tomorrow night, when they host Brown for Senior Night. Puck drop in Hamden, Conn., is slated for 7 p.m., and can be seen live on ESPN+.
