Bobcats' Home Unbeaten Streak Snapped at Nine in Loss Against Marist

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's volleyball had its unbeaten streak at home snapped, as the Bobcats came up short against MAAC foe Marist in four sets on Saturday afternoon inside Burt Kahn.
Ginevra Giovagnoni led the Quinnipiac effort with 15 kills, 14 digs, and two aces, while Damla Gunes recorded 38 assists and eight digs in the loss.
With the loss, Quinnipiac fell to 16-8 overall on the season and 12-3 in MAAC play, while Marist improved to 13-14 on the season and 11-5 in conference play.

SET ONE (25-20, Marist)
Marist got off to a hot start, jumping out to a 12-6 lead in the frame before Quinnipiac called a timeout. The Bobcats were able to cut it to as close as 22-17 before Marist called a timeout. However, it wasn't enough as the Red Foxes took the opening set, 25-20.
SET TWO (22-25)
The two sides traded points to an 11-11 tie before Marist crept ahead 14-12, forcing a Quinnipiac timeout. Out of the break, the Bobcats battled back to trim the deficit to 19-18, forcing a timeout from the Red Foxes.
Immediately out of the timeout, Quinnipiac went on a swift 3-0 run to push ahead 21-19, forcing Marist to burn its final timeout of the set. The Bobcats never lost momentum, taking the set 25-22.
SET THREE (25-22)
After falling behind in the set 3-0, the Bobcats responded with a 5-0 run to force a timeout from the Red Foxes. However, the Red Foxes were able to battle back and take a 14-13 lead forcing a QU timeout.
Marist maintained its lead, extending it to 21-19 before the Bobcats used their final timeout of the set. After Marist built its lead to 23-19, QU cut it down to 21-19 before the Red Foxes called their final timeout of the set. However, it wasn't enough as the Red Foxes took the set, 25-22.

Marist got off to a hot start, jumping out to an early 9-3 lead. Marist's lead reached 15-8 before Quinnipiac used its first timeout of the frame. The Bobcats were able to cut it to as close as 22-19 before Marist used its first timeout of the set.

NOTES:
The Bobcats will be back in action on Sunday, Nov. 5, when QU welcomes Siena to Hamden for Senior Day. The match is set for a 1 p.m. start.
