Bobcats Fall in Five-Set Thriller at Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Quinnipiac women's volleyball came up short on the road, as the Bobcats were downed by MAAC foe Rider in five sets on Saturday afternoon inside Alumni Gymnasium.
Alexandra Tennon led the Bobcats with 16 kills and 16 digs, while Aryanah Diaz logged 14 kills and 12 digs in the loss.
With the loss, Quinnipiac fell to 17-9 overall on the season and 13-4 in MAAC play, while Rider improved to 11-15 on the season and 10-7 in conference play.

SET ONE (25-20, Quinnipiac)
The Bobcats opened the match with a 9-3 run before increasing the lead to 14-7, forcing Rider to call a timeout. Quinnipiac's lead reached as much at 19-10 in the set before cruising to a 25-20 win in the frame.
SET TWO (25-12)
Quinnipiac kept its foot on the gas in the second set, opening the frame with a 6-2 run to force an early timeout from Rider. The Bobcats did not let up, building the lead to 18-8 in the set before going on to take the frame, 25-12.
SET THREE (21-25)
The two sides exchanged points throughout the set before Rider crept ahead 20-17, forcing a Quinnipiac timeout. The Bobcats were never able to get past Rider in the frame, as the Broncs took the set, 25-22.
SET FOUR (18-25)
Rider jumped out to a 12-9 lead and slowly built it to 21-12 before eventually taking the set to force a winner-takes-all fifth set.
SET FIVE (6-15)
Rider jumped out to a 5-1 lead, forcing a Quinnipiac timeout in the frame. Quinnipiac never recovered in the set, eventually falling 15-6.

The Bobcats will be back in action on Sunday, Nov. 12, when QU travels to take on Saint Peter's at 1 p.m. to close the regular season.

- Aryanah Diaz tallied a double-double as well behind 14 kills and 12 digs
- Damla Gunes recorded 39 assists and 10 digs for a double-double of her own in the loss.
