Three Bobcats Record Double-Doubles in Sweep Over Iona

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's volleyball remained unbeaten at home, as the Bobcats swept Iona in straight sets on Wednesday evening inside Burt Kahn.
Aryanah Diaz led the way with 17 kills and 17 digs, while Ginevra Giovagnoni added 13 kills and 13 digs for a double-double of her own. Damla Gunes led all players with 36 assists and contributed 13 digs as well in the victory.
With the win, Quinnipiac improved to 15-7 overall on the season and 11-2 in MAAC play, while Iona fell to 11-13 on the season and 7-6 in conference play.

SET ONE (25-10, Quinnipiac)
The Bobcats jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead to force an Iona timeout. Out of the break, the Bobcats were roaring with a 15-6 lead to force Iona to use its final timeout in the set. Quinnipiac never looked back as they were able to win the set 25-10.
SET TWO (25-20)
The two sides exchanged points to start the second set before Quinnipiac pulled away 11-6 to force an Iona timeout. The Bobcats didn't waver, as they extended the lead to 21-11, which forced Iona to take their second timeout of the set. After Iona pulled within four, Quinnipiac was forced to use their first timeout. After the teams went back and forth out of the timeout, the Bobcats got the points they needed to win the set 25-20.
SET THREE (27-25)
The Gaels took a 10-7 lead early in the third set to force the Bobcats to burn their first timeout of the set. The Bobcats came back to tie the set at 18 before pulling away to a 21-18 advantage. The Bobcats would force an Iona timeout, their first of the set. Back-and-forth action had it deadlocked at 23 before Iona got to 24, forcing Quinnipiac to use their final timeout of the set. Out of the break, the Bobcats took four of the next five points to secure the set and match.
