HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac field hockey team battled until the final buzzer as it fell to No. 7 ranked Liberty, 2-1, on Friday afternoon in Hamden.

Lucia Pompeo scored Quinnipiac's lone goal with an assist from her twin sister, Sophia Pompeo.,

Cristina Torres made four saves in the losing effort.

With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 5-7 on the 2023 season, while Liberty jumps to 13-1.

SCORING SUMMARY

Q2 – (18:49) – After a couple of crazy bounces, Sophia Pompeo was able to hit the ball over the goalie's head and to Lucia Pompeo who batted the ball out of the air and into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Q4 – (45:49) – Off a Liberty corner, Reagan Underwood was able to deflect the ball past Torres off a shot from Jodie Connolly.
Q4 – (47:45) – Off another Liberty corner, Bethany Dykema put the ball into play to Jodie Connolly. Connolly passed it right back to Dykema who slid the ball into the net to give Liberty the 2-1 lead.

NOTES

Lucia Pompeo recorded a goal on the day, for her fifth of the season and 13^th of her college career.
With her assist, Sophia Pompeo recorded her first assist as a Bobcat.
Torres made four saves on six shots on goal.
