HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac field hockey closes its three-game homestand on Sunday, as the Bobcats play host to Towson at noon at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Stadium.
THE MATCHUP: vs. TOWSON
- Sunday's contest marks the third contest between the two programs
- The two sides have split its previous two matchups
- The last time the two sides faced off, the Bobcats came away with a 3-1 win over Towson in Hamden on Aug. 26, 2012
- Towson enters the contest at 2-6, having lost three of its last four contests
- Georgia Beachley leads the Tigers in goals (4) and points (9)
- Emilia Massarelli scored her second goal of the season, as the Bobcats were downed by BIG EAST foe No. 13 Old Dominion, 6-1, on Friday afternoon in Hamden
- Stella Tegtmeier notched an assist in the contest, marking the third time in her last four appearances where she has tallied a point

- The Bobcats opened the season with a 3-1 record, QU's best start to a season since the Bobcats opened the 2011 campaign 3-1

- Graduate student Amanda Funaro has been a defensive staple for the Bobcats
- Funaro has played in 477 of 480 minutes of action this season for the Bobcats
- Barely leaving the field this season, Funaro has been a key cog in both of Quinnipiac's shutouts this season
- Funaro boasts three defensive saves this season, which is tops in the BIG EAST and third in the nation
- Head Coach Becca Main enters her 28th season with the Bobcats
- She is the longest tenured field hockey coach in Quinnipiac's NCAA history
- Main is the winningest coach in QU women's field hockey program history with 208 victories
- Head Coach Becca Main made numerous changes to her staff entering the 2022 campaign
- Previously serving as an assistant coach, Montana Fleming was elevated to Associate Head Coach on June 16
- Fleming enters her fourth season as part of Main's staff at QU in 2022
- Prior to joining Main's staff for the 2019 campaign, Fleming spent the 2017 season as a fifth-year player and standout for the Bobcats
- Main announced the addition of Abby Lucas as an assistant coach on July 26

- QU earned three wins at home last season (Fall 2021) with two coming in overtime

- Emilia Massarelli returns for her sophomore season after earning 2021 All-BIG EAST Second Team honors as a first year
- Massarelli logged 10 goals and two assists for 22 points in 2021
- Her 10 goals and 22 points ranked second in the BIG EAST in 2021
- QU will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 23, when the Bobcats play host to No. 14 Old Dominion at the QU Field Hockey Stadium
