
Women's Ice Hockey Announces Leadership Group Ahead of New Campaign

Adzija & Boyd to Serve as Co-Captains, Peart Named Assistant Captain
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's ice hockey head coach Cassandra Turner has announced the program's leadership group for the 2022-23 season. Lexie Adzija and Zoe Boyd will serve as the Bobcats' Co-Captains, while Sadie Peart has been tabbed Assistant Captain.
Both Adzija and Boyd served as Assistant Captains for QU last season, and both announced their return to the Bobcats for a fifth season back in March of 2022. Peart – who enters her senior season – will serve in the Bobcats' leadership group for the first time in her career

"They have so much pride in Quinnipiac Hockey and value the work it takes to create a great culture. They're competitive and want nothing more than to win championships! They will represent our program well and honor the amazing leaders who've come before them. "
Lexie Adzija: Co-Captain
Lexie Adzija, the 2022 Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete of the Year, played in all 39 games for the Bobcats this past season. She ranked fourth nationally in faceoff wins (526) in 2021-22, while also ranking third on the team in total points (28). Adzija won 10+ faceoffs in 36 of QU's 39 contests last year.
She tallied 18 total points as a first-year student at QU (2018-19), collected 29 more points on 11 goals and 18 helpers as a sophomore (2019-20), posted 18 points as a junior (2020-21), then recorded eight goals and 20 assists for 28 total points as a senior last year (2021-22). Adzija has 93 points over 125 games played during her Quinnipiac career.
Zoe Boyd: Co-Captain
Zoe Boyd will also return to the Bobcats for a fifth season in 2022-23. The ECAC Hockey Third Team All-League selection notched one goal and 10 assists for 11 points last season, finishing with a +10 plus/minus rating and 41 blocked shots.
The Caledon, Ontario-native played in all 36 QU games a first year (2018-19), tallying 12 total points. Boyd then played in 37 more contests as a sophomore (2019-20), recording three goals and nine assists for 12 total points. After missing her junior campaign (2020-21) due to injury, Boyd came back with a 13-point effort over 35 total games as a senior (2021-22). Boyd has played in 108 total games during her time at Quinnipiac, recording 36 total points.
Sadie Peart: Assistant Captain
Forward Sadie Peart will enter her senior campaign this upcoming year. The Grand Rapids, Minnesota-native is on the heels of a career-best 33 point effort in 2021-22.
Peart scored 12 goals to go along with 12 helpers for 24 points as a first-year student (2019-20). She then added eight points in 15 games as a sophomore (2020-21). The forward tallied career-high marks in both goals, 14, and assists, 19, as a junior (2021-22).
Quinnipiac women's ice hockey's 2022-23 schedule features 34 regular season contests in total. Quinnipiac will host 19 home games at the People's United Center in Hamden.
QU kicks off the '22-23 campaign with an exhibition contest on the road against UConn (Sept. 17) at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs. The Bobcats' home opener in Hamden is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 30 vs. Boston College.
