QU Begins MAAC Schedule With Impressive 5-2 Victory

GUILFORD, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's tennis won its MAAC opener on Saturday afternoon, cruising past Niagara by the final score of 5-2 at the Guilford Racquet Club.

The Bobcats won all three doubles matches, then Ayato Arakaki, Javier Casasolas Monllor, Shaurya Sood and Donovan Brown each won in singles play.

NOTES

Alester Magalit /Kemal Karagozoglu won at No. 3 doubles (6-2) to earn Quinnipiac's first victory of the day.
Javier Casasolas Monllor /Shaurya Sood won 6-4 from No. 1 position – securing the doubles point for the Bobcats. The duo has won two doubles matches over QU's last five events.
Ayato Arakaki/Donovan Brown also teamed up for a victory (6-3) at No. 2 doubles. The win is their third doubles victory in the Bobcats' last five matches.
Shaurya Sood won in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) at the No. 3 position to pick up Quinnipiac's first doubles point. The singles win is his first since March 16 vs. Franklin Pierce.
Javier Casasolas Monllor won at No. 2 singles over Alonso. He picked up a 6-3, 6-4 victory. He's earned to wins over his last four singles bouts.
Ayato Arakaki battled back for a three-set win at the No. 2 spot, winning 6-1 in the third set. He's won twice over his last five singles matchups.
Donovan Brown defeated Goethlin 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6 singles, making it a 5-2 final for the Bobcats. The singles win is his fourth with the Bobcats this spring.
