#5/5 Men's Hockey Blanks Colgate in Regular Season Finale

HAMDEN, Conn. – #5/5 Quinnipiac exploded for a three-goal third period to defeat Colglate, 4-0, and clinch the programs sixth Cleary Cup in the last 10 seasons. Graduate student Dylan St. Cyr earned his fifth shutout of the season and 10th of his career.

Micchael Lombardi opened the scoring in the first period after deflecting a Jayden Lee shot from the blue line.

After the intermission, the Bobcats erupted for two goals in the opening 2:28 of the 2nd period thanks to Zach Metsa and a power play goal from Joey Cipollone.

Oliver Chau ripped one home just past the midway point of the period to extend the lead to 4-0, the eventual final score.

Quinnipiac once again won the faceoff battle (29-24) and the shooting battle (26-19 on goal).
The Bobcats power play converted once in four attempts. The team has scored two power play goals in its last three games.
The shutout extends Quinnipiac's NCAA Division I record to 16 team shutouts on the year.
With the win, head coach Rand Pecknold became the 10th coach in ECAC Hockey history to win 200 games in conference play.
Lombardi, Chau, and Lee all recorded multi-point games in the win.

Quinnipiac has clinched the #1 overall seed in the ECAC Hockey Tournament and will receive a bye to the Quarterfinal round. The best-of-three quarterfinal series will take place at the People's United Center on March 11-13.
